Schedule of Services
We are overjoyed and grateful to be able to gather in person for the High Holy days this year. At the same time, the coronavirus pandemic is not over; rising cases and COVID variants have shown that we must continue taking precautions to protect ourselves and our community. The Nehar Shalom COVID committee, ritual committee, and board have been working hard to balance safety, accessibility, and connection during this time. We hope that this plan will meet as many of our community’s needs as possible, and we will remain flexible in response to changing information about COVID and our community. Our full COVID policy, which is updated regularly, is available here.
For all in-person services, both indoor and outdoor, we will require everyone attending to wear masks and to socially distance from people outside their household. For indoor services, we will ventilate the space using window fans, and will use a CO2 monitor to track whether the ventilation meets CDC standards. If CO2 levels become too high, indicating inadequate ventilation, we will pause services to air out the space.
For the safety of everyone in both our Nehar community and our larger JP community, we expect everyone age 12 and over who attends in-person services to be fully vaccinated against COVID, barring a serious medical contraindication. Over 97% of adults who responded to our community survey are already fully vaccinated. Children under age 12 who are not eligible to be vaccinated are welcome to attend in-person services, following the same masking and distancing guidelines as adults (children age 2 and under are not required to wear masks.) We will not be verifying vaccination status, but if you are eligible but not yet vaccinated, we ask that you attend our virtual options instead.
All Sukkot programming will take place outdoors, services will take place in the yard at First Church JP at 6 Eliot St. in Jamaica Plain where High Holy Day services were. Other programming will take place in the sukkah in the yard of Hope Central Church at 85 Seaverns Ave. in Jamaica Plain. Please check the calendar events accordingly.
